Thoughts on a Pendulum

Thoughts on a Pendulum
Earth taken by the edges; heavens praise your wonders
Brought forth in iniquity; heritage from the Lord
Taken from clay; made so wonderfully complex
Painful toil all days of life; more valued than many sparrows
Heart troubled and afraid; covered with his feathers
Walking through a valley of void; soaring on eagle’s wings
Bruised feet with shackles, feet did not slip
Set me free, set me free, if the son sets me free, I will be free indeed
Disappointments clouding the thoughts; thoughts for a future
Tears have been the food; tears on your scroll
Weeping in the night; songs of joy in the morning
Sins like scarlet; washed white as snow
Crushed in spirit; Carried in his bosom
Darkness over the face of the deep; the light of the world, the light of life
Chasing after the wind; riding on the wings of the wind
Set me free, set me free, if the son sets me free, I will be free indeed
Swinging from despair to hope;
My thoughts sheltered by your thoughts; fears smoothed by your love
Set me free, set me free, if the son sets me free, I will be free indeed
– Anthea Washington
It is natural to have doubts and fears when going through a rough phase in life and it is no different for a Christian. As much as we are strengthened by the Scripture and pray fervently, our faith becomes shaky when our prayers are not heard or so it seems.
Perhaps, we wake up every morning claiming God’s promises but are attacked by negative thoughts and doubts through the day. Nevertheless, God is true to his promises and his words never fail. Let us trust in God; expect a supernatural miracle in your life.
