It was a fine morning. I started the day with prayer and bible reading, thanking God for his mercies. Indeed, God is compassionate and merciful, for I was alive to see another day and it was a miracle. I was breathing, could move my hands and feet and all glory to God. My husband and two girls are keeping good and radiating happiness. Thank God for his love.
After sending my people off to work and school, I began my kitchen chores. I planned the day’s menu and soon had it going. I wanted to deep fry chicken and placed a pot on the stove with loads of oil. On an impulse, I fried some papads first. I tried to pick the chicken container and in a split second had hot oil all over me. I am still wondering what I had done to topple the pot. Oil splattered on my hands and legs, the pot was on the floor and the kitchen in a puddle of oil. I ran to the washroom repeatedly saying thank you Jesus. The pain was intense, but I kept uttering thank you Jesus.
Not knowing what to do, I took everything out of freezer and placed them on the burns. I was thanking God for miraculously saving me from severe burns. It could have been worse, but I had escaped with minor burns.
Usually I get upset, irritated or drown myself with self-pity for incidents such as this. As many others, I ask why it should happen. Instead, today, I just saw the positive side of the incident and thanked God that the burns were not severe. Truly, giving praises to God and thanking him for his mercies, even in dire situations protect us like a strong tower. I realized the power of praises today. As it says in the scriptures, “From them will come songs of thanksgiving and the sound of rejoicing. I will add to their numbers, and they will not be decreased. I will bring them honor and they will not be disdained” Jeremiah 30: 19
Let everything that has breadth praise the Lord
As I write this, a few hours after the incident, I praise God for his protection. I only have mild burns and back to normal. The power of praises is truly amazing. Start the day saying, “I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders” Psalm 9: 1. Our Lord loves to hear our praises and thanks giving. As we sing praises, God hears our prayers and answers our prayers. We read in 2 Chronicles 20: 22 that “As they began to sing and praise….”, God saved the people.
Hence, let us say with faith, “We give thanks to you, O God, we give thanks, for your Name is near” Psalm 75: 1
Psalms 150: 6 says, “Let everything that has breadth praise the Lord”.
Love to hear your testimony too. Please share God’s miracles in your life and be a blessing to many.
All glory and praise to God.
