The world is gripped by fear. The ‘virus’ has shattered the peace of all people, crippled the economy and has brought sickness, or despair to millions of people. Truly, people are sick with worrying about the deadly virus. However, read the scripture passage below.
“Let all the earth, fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him. For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance. From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind; from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth- he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength, it cannot save. But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.” Psalm 33:8-19
Fear of what?
Let all people revere the Lord. Let us only fear the Lord and not the virus. When our hope is fixed on the unfailing love of the Almighty God, he promises to deliver us from all evil. Our strategies, intelligence or technologies are not going to save us. Only when we humble ourselves with fear of the Lord, he will relent and send forth his word to heal the nations.
For the word of the Lord says, “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them “– Psalm 34:7
He promises “And I myself will be a wall of fire around it, declares the Lord, and I will be its glory within” Zechariah 2:5
Surely, the Lord will protect us and keep us safe. Let us seek his deliverance with fear, hope and reverence.
